PREVIEW: @ETBU_WBSK to Closeout Season with Matchup against UTD

MARSHALL, TX- Looking to close out a successful season on a high note, the East Texas Baptist University women's basketball team will make their way to Richardson, Texas for a matchup with the University of Texas Dallas on Saturday, Feb. 17. ETBU is currently 19-5 overall and 13-4 in American Southwest Conference play this season.

ETBU enters the final game of the season coming off of a dominant 73-54 victory over LeTourneau University in Ornelas Gymnasium. In the final home game of her career, Senior Katy Boren recorded a solid send-off with 16 points, four rebounds and two steals to go along with four-made three pointers in the win. Karley McHenry also tallied 16 points for the Tigers, connecting on 4-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc. Madison McCoy chipped in 15 points and dished out five assists.

Overall, ETBU is averaging a steady 68.8 points per game, while only allowing 58.6 for the year. Kim Childress continues to hold the lead in points and rebounds, at 13.9 and 7.1 respectively. Boren ranks second on the team with points per game, averaging 9.1 for the team. Boren has also connected on 58 three pointers for the year, ranking first in that category. McCoy is the primary playmaker for the Tigers. The first year point guard is averaging 4.5 assists per game and has collected 103 assists overall for the season.

Coming into the weekend finale, ETBU will be looking for revenge against UTD after dropping the first meeting at home, 59-55 on Jan. 11. The Comets currently sit at the number one spot in the ASC East standings with a record 20-3 overall and 14-2 in conference games. The season series between these two ball clubs has gone in favor of the Comets, compiling a record of 22-19 in 41 games played. Sophomore guard Victoria Pena leads the Comets with 16.0 points per game.

Following the victory on Monday night, Head Coach Rusty Rainbolt talked about facing UTD in the final game of the season.

"The kids are really well coached and they're very experienced. We have a lot of respect for what they do. Hopefully, we can go out and compete," Rainbolt said.

Saturday's game is set to tip-off at 2:00 p.m. from the UTD Activity Center.
