#TIGERSWIN: @ETBU_Softball Tigers Sweep Doubleheader from the Trinity Tigers

MARSHALL, Texas – Playing a mid-week doubleheader over Spring Break the East Texas Baptist University softball team won the battle of the Tigers with a doubleheader sweep of Trinity University, 6-3, and 9-1. Including three wins from the previous series, ETBU is now riding a five-game winning streak at 12-3 overall on the season.
 
In game one, ETBU secured the victory with a 6-3 win. Sabrina Salts and Jeanette Galvan led ETBU with two RBI each while Rocki Tello received the win with 5.0 innings pitched allowing two runs on five hits and striking out three batters. Marissa Trevino led TU with two hits and two RBI while Allie Holbrook took the loss with 6.0 innings pitched allowing six runs on six hits with four strikeouts.
 
Game two was over in six innings with ETBU taking a 9-1 decision. Linzie Lewis was ETBU's top hitter with three hits and two RBI while Morgan Arst grabbed two hits and scored three runs. The win went to Jordan Anderson, who went all six innings allowing one run on two hits and struck out six batters. Hailey Wilson and Rebecca Berreth would pick up a hit each for TU while Adrienne Edwards was tabbed with the loss with two innings of five-run, five-hit ball.
 
Game 1 - ETBU 6, TU 3

After a 1-2-3 inning from Tello, ETBU brought in the first run in the bottom of the first from an RBI single by Lewis. One inning later, Jeanette Galvan drove in the second run for ETBU for a 2-0 lead. In the bottom of the third, Salts would deliver a two-run homer to make the score 4-0.
 
Tello would take a no-hitter into the fifth inning when she gave up a leadoff single and double. But after a double play by Lewis, TU struck for their first run of the game on a single. TU then added another run to trail 4-2 after five. ETBU would bring in insurance runs as Galvan had a sacrifice bunt while MacKenzie Anderson reached on an error to make the final score 6-2.
 
Game 2 – ETBU 9, TU 1 (6 innings)

ETBU started strong as RBI hits by Morgan Arst, Lewis, and Prince made it 3-0 after one inning. ETBU then tacked on two more one inning later as a stolen base was followed by an RBI double by Lewis to make it 5-0. TU would scratch across a run in the top of the fourth, but they left the bases loaded.
 
In the bottom of the fourth inning, a Salts two-run single would extend the lead to 7-1. One inning later, ETBU extended it to 8-1 when MacKenzie Anderson drove in Jessica Gann. Then in the bottom of the sixth inning, ETBU scored the game-ending run on a passed ball with Heaven McDonald being the one to cross the plate.
 
ETBU will resume their home stand as they host the University of the Ozarks this Friday at 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM while Saturday's game will be at 12:00 PM.
