#TIGERSWIN: @ETBU_Baseball Rallies for Series Win Against Belhaven

JACKSON, Mississippi - For the second series in a row, the East Texas Baptist University baseball team was able to overcome a game one loss to sweep the doubleheader as they would bounce back with victories of 5-4 and 6-0 over Belhaven University. ETBU now finds themselves 15-12 overall and 7-8 in conference play.

Game one would see ETBU defeat the Blazer 5-4 in eight innings. Jeremy Bateman and Jonathon Sylvester would each get two hits while Dylan Singletary, Casey Combs, and Zach Gartner would each get an RBI. Blaine Parker got the start as he went 4.1 innings allowing three runs on six hits while walking three batters and striking out three. Jordan O'Bannon would get the win with 2.2 innings allowing one run on two hits walking one and striking out two. Call Florence got the save with one scoreless inning while striking out two batters.

Game two would be a 6-0 seven-inning shutout victory as Combs would lead with two hits and two RBI. Derrick Findley would pitch the entire game allowing six hits while striking out four batters and walking three batters.

Game 1 - ETBU 5, BU 4 (8 Innings)

Bateman led off the game with a triple before coming into score on an RBI groundout by Gartner. BU would answer with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. It would be another couple of innings before BU made it 3-1 on a single after three innings. ETBU would answer in the top of the fourth inning on small ball as Landen Barns would steal home while Singletary drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game 3-3.
 
The game would stay tied until the top of the sixth inning when Singletary would put the Tigers ahead 4-3 with a single. ETBU kept the lead as they would come within one out of victory only to have the Blazers tie the game with a single. After getting the third out, the game went into extra innings. In the top of the eighth inning, Combs would drive in the go-ahead run for a 5-4 lead. Florence came in and would retire the side in order to even the series.

Game 2 - ETBU 6, BU 0

Once again, ETBU scored in the first inning as Combs would drive in Singletary for a 1-0 lead. One inning later, Dylan Sumpter's sacrifice fly to center made it 2-0 in ETBU's favor. BU would threaten in the bottom of the third inning before a caught stealing and a strikeout from Findley ended the threat.

In the fourth inning, ETBU would make it 3-0 on a bases loaded walk to Sumpter. One inning later, Gartner would score on a passed ball for a 4-0 lead. ETBU would then get two more runs in the sixth inning as a Gartner sacrifice fly and a Combs double made it 6-0. The Tigers would then hold the Blazers down for the final six outs to take the series victory.

ETBU will travel to Conway, Arkansas to take Hendrix College at 6:00 PM this coming Tuesday night and 2:00 PM on Wednesday.
