MARSHALL, Texas – Grinding it out on their home playing surface, the East Texas Baptist University men's tennis team pulled out a 5-4 victory over Belhaven University on Friday to stay perfect in American Southwest Conference East Division play. It came down to tie breaking set with John Herr at number three singles to push ETBU to the win.
 
ETBU would take two of three doubles matches as the pairs of Joseph Salinas and Ty Tarver (#2 Doubles) came away with an 8-2 win while Andrew Deutsch and Tyler Howard (#3 Doubles) pulled away with an 8-1 victory.
 
The Tigers then took three singles matches for the win as Salinas (#2, 6-0, 6-2) and Deutsch (#4, 6-1, 6-1) both came away with straight set wins while John Herr (#3) had to overcome a one set deficit to win 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 to get the victory.
 
ETBU will remain at home next Saturday when they host the University of Texas Tyler at 10:00 am.
