TUSCON, Arizona - Continuing the action on Day 2 of the NFCA Leadoff Classic, the East Texas Baptist University softball team was unable to pick up wins as they fell in both games. They lost 10-2 to #1 Virginia Wesleyan and then lost 12-5 to William Patterson University.
Against VWU,
MacKenzie Anderson,
Morgan Arst,
Nikki Gil, and
Madison Prince, who had two RBI, would each pick up a hit. Prince's two RBI came on a home run.
Alyssa Bazan started the game for ETBU, but took the loss as she couldn't record an out while allowing four runs on two hits.
Chelsea Ham (3.0 IP, five runs, four hits) and
McKayla Hendrix (1.0 IP, one run, 0 hits) would also pitch in the circle.
In the second game of the day, ETBU started off with a 2-0 lead and was up 4-1 on a Prince home run but ended up falling, 12-5. Prince led the team going 3-of-4 with two RBI. Lewis and Ham also had a RBI.
Jordan Anderson took the loss going 4.2 innings with 11 strikeouts.
Rocki Tellow then went two innings followed by 0.1 innings of work by
McKayla Hendrix.
ETBU will #8 Trine University and #11 Christopher Newport on Sunday in Arizona.
