MARSHALL, Texas – Fighting for the top spot in the American Southwest Conference East Division, the East Texas Baptist University men's tennis team couldn't hold onto a 2-1 lead after doubles falling to #30 University of Texas Tyler, 7-2. ETBU is now 3-9 on the year and 2-1 in the ASC East. This was the fifth nationally ranked team that ETBU has played this year.

ETBU took a 2-1 lead in doubles over UTT winning the number two and three matches. Joseph Salinas and Ty Tarver took out Ford Cunningham and Joshua Vanwinkle, 8-5. Andrew Deutsch and Tyler Howard then won 8-2 over Alexandre Bouchard and Jose Currea for the second point. John Herr and Cody Highsmith fell in the number one match, 8-5.

UTT bounced back sweeping all six singles matches. Salinas had one of the closest matches of the match at number two falling 6-3, 7-5, to Jose McIntyre.

ETBU will host LeTourneau University on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
