MARSHALL, Texas- Looking to stay in the hunt in the American Southwest Conference, the East Texas Baptist University men's tennis team defeated conference opponent LeTourneau University 7-2 at home on Saturday. ETBU will improve to 4-9 overall and 3-1 in ASC play this season.

Joseph Salinas and Ty Tarver manned the No. 2 doubles spot, taking down the team of Robby Bundy and Zac Crowley-Kurth 8-3. The No. 3 doubles team of Andrew Deutsch and Tyler Howard collected an 8-5 victory for the Tigers.

In singles play, Salinas had the closest match needing an extra set to take down LETU's Jimmie Henson (6-3, 5-7, 6-2) at the No. 2 singles competition. John Herr commanded the No. 3 spot, defeating Bundy 6-1, 6-3. Deutsch recorded a sweep at the No. 4 spot, winning 6-0, 6-0 over Kurth. Tarver and Howard each put up one 6-0 victory at the No. 5 and No. 6 singles match, respectively.  

ETBU will close out the regular season and the home stand with a match against the Ozarks on Friday, April 20.
