#TIGERSWIN: @ETBU_Baseball Wins Rematch vs. Centenary 7-5

SHREVEPORT, Louisiana - In a rematch of the 11-4 victory from earlier in the season, the East Texas Baptist University baseball won a much closer affair against Centenary College with the final score of 7-5. ETBU is currently 19-15 overall with the win heading into their next series later this week.

Jeremy Bateman and Mason Aldredge each had two hits and an RBI while Landen Barns and Seth Mikeska led everyone with two RBI each. ETBU used nine pitchers in the game with Zackary Pierce starting. But it was Chad Boudreaux who was credited with the win by pitching just two-thirds of scoreless ball allowing one hit and striking out two. Call Florence picked up save number five on the season with two-thirds innings allowing one hit.

Both teams scored two runs in the first inning as ETBU struck first on a bases loaded walk to Zach Gartner and a sacrifice fly from Mikeska to make it 2-0. CC tied the game in the bottom half and then took the lead 3-2 after two innings. But the Tigers would score five runs in the next four innings, which started on a single by Aldredge to tie the score in the third inning.

Then, a home run in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings by Bateman, Mikeska, and Barns respectively, pushed ETBU's lead to 7-3. The Gents would cut the lead to 7-4 in the bottom of the sixth inning on an RBI double. But ETBU's pitching staff would hold them scoreless until the bottom of the ninth. A two-out RBI single by CC made it 7-5 to bring the tying run up to the plate. But Florence would end the game with a grounder to short for the force out and the Tigers escaped with the win.

ETBU returns home this Thursday when they'll host the University of Ozarks for the first game of their final home series of the season and 7:00 PM.
