AUSTIN, Texas – Facing a deciding game three in this series with Concordia University-Texas, the East Texas Baptist University softball team came away with a 5-0 shutout win against Tornados.
Jordan Anderson pitched another shutout earning her 13
th win on the year.This puts ETBU at 29-8 overall and 22-5 in the American Southwest Conference.
Behind seven strong innings from Anderson, ETBU was able to give her the win as she only surrendered three hits and six walks while striking out 12 batters. Offensively, ETBU was led by two hits each from
Morgan Arst and
Grace Camacho while
Linzie Lewis and
MacKenzie Anderson had an RBI in the game. Jordan Russell was tabbed with the loss going 4.1 innings allowing four runs on six hits with one strikeout.
ETBU started their scoring in the top of the first inning on a RBI single from Lewis to make it 1-0. After a scoreless second inning, the Tigers would then bring two runs in the top of the third inning when Salts reached on an error that scored both Lewis and Arst for a 3-0 lead. The Tornados would have their first threat in the bottom of third as they loaded the bases with one out. Anderson was able to get out of the jam with a pop out and a strikeout swinging.
In the top of the fifth, Lewis once again reach base as another CTX error led to an ETBU run making it 4-0. Then in the sixth,
MacKenzie Anderson would pull off a squeeze play allowing
Jackie Ramos to score for a 5-0 lead. This was all the support
Jordan Anderson would get as she held on for the series victory for ETBU.
ETBU returns home this weekend for their final home series against the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Friday night's games will be at 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM while Saturday's game starts at 12:00 PM.
