MARSHALL, Texas – Two former East Texas Baptist University student-athletes have signed professional contracts and will further their careers. Former football player
Ty Parsons and baseball player
Zach Compton are moving on to the next level of competition.
Parsons, who was a Little AP All-American, is currently playing in Germany for the Elmshorn Fighting Pirates. Elmshorn is a European football team that plays in the 2
nd Division. Parsons broke the American Southwest Conference and ETBU's single season record for tackles with 143 while finishing second in NCAA Division III. He helped ETBU to a 7-3 record and had 243 tackles in two seasons.
Compton signed with a new team in the Pacific Association, the Martinez Clippers. He will be playing in Martinez, California, at WaterFront Park for the Clippers in their first season. At ETBU, he was a two-time ABCA All-Region selection, three-time All-ASC selection, and an ASC All-Tournament team member. He finished his senior year as the all-time leader in RBI with 144.
