TYLER, Texas – Finishing up the series against #3 Texas Tyler, the East Texas Baptist University softball team couldn't produce any runs falling to the Patriots, 8-0. ETBU is now 24-7 on the year and 17-4 in the American Southwest Conference.
ETBU had three players with one hit as
Morgan Arst,
Sabrina Salts, and
Jackie Ramos all had a hit.
Alyssa Bazan took the loss giving up five earned runs, eight overall, and recorded three strikeouts going 3.1 innings.
McKayla Hendrix finished the final 0.2 innings and had a strikeout.
UTT scored six runs in the first two innings for an early 6-0 lead. They then added two runs in the fourth to extend their lead to eight runs. ETBU had runners on in the first and second inning but couldn't find the hit to cut the lead. In the second inning, ETBU had runners on second and third with two outs but a ground out ended any threat of scoring. In the top of third inning, ETBU chance of scoring ended on a fielder's choice at home plate. Ramos then had a double in the fourth inning as the final hit of the game for ETBU.
ETBU will be back at Taylor Field next weekend for the Strike Out Cancer series vs. McMurry University.
