SEGUIN, Texas – Playing in their 12
th NCAA Division III National Tournament, the #15 East Texas Baptist University softball team saw their season come to a close with two losses on Friday. ETBU finishes the season at 33-13.
ETBU fell to #2 Texas Tyler, 3-0, in the first game of the day and then, 13-1, to #2 Texas Lutheran in the Seguin Regional.
Jordan Anderson took both losses and finishes the season at 17-5 overall. On the day,
Sabrina Salts had three hits while
Linzie Lewis and
McKayla Hendrix each had two hits. Hendrix also had ETBU's lone RBI.
Senior's Hendrix and
Rocki Tello reflect on their time at ETBU during the final press conference of the day.
"I probably wouldn't be able to say I am going to the University of Oklahoma law school without ETBU. There have been a lot of people helping me along the way, I have all my recommendations from here, and ETBU is a great place to prepare you and move you onto the next level," says Hendrix.
Tello, who is a four-year starter, says, "I am really thankful for Coach Shirley for recruiting me. I would not be here without her or Coach Galloway. I am really thankful for the opportunities I have been given not with just softball but with my education, too. I have met a lot of great people and have great professors and made a lot of friends as well."
ETBU has won 141 games over the past four seasons and claimed the 2016 American Southwest Conference Tournament championship and the 2017 Marshall Regional Championship.
