Box Score ROUND ROCK, Texas – A strong University of Mary Hardin-Baylor defense and an outpouring of goals handed the East Texas Baptist University women's soccer team a 6-1 defeat at the Round Rock MultiSports Complex. This puts ETBU at 2-2-1 overall and 0-1 in American Southwest Conference play.
Taking six shots throughout the game, ETBU had
Ashleigh Rondon firing two shots on goal while
Abigail Bath had the lone goal for the Tigers on an assist by
Samantha Martinez.
Karrigan Falber and
Maddie Rea split halves as they compiled six saves with four and two respectively. Of the 16 shots taken by UMHB, Madison Link led with five shots scoring two goals while Emily Blaettner (two goals) combined for four shots and two goals.
The difference in the game came in the first period when UMHB scored five goals in a span of 28 minutes (8:23-35:33). Chelsea Graham tallied a goal (12:06) and three assists (8:23, 15:43, 22:12) in that stretch for UMHB. It wouldn't be until the 35
th minute of the game before ETBU put their first shot off by Rondon.
Brianna Mickshaw would have the second shot for ETBU as the Tigers went into halftime trailing 5-0.
ETBU would have more chances in the second half to score, but couldn't pull through as the Crusaders upped their lead to 6-0 seven minutes in. UMHB's defense would then hold on to the lead until the 83
rd minute of the contest when Bath broke the shutout with a goal.
ETBU will look to bounce back as they head to Concordia-Texas on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. to play the contest at the Round Rock MultiSportsComplex.
