ABILENE, Texas – In their first action of the 2018-19 school year, the East Texas Baptist University men's tennis team competed in the ASC Individual Tournament. Some of the members would have deep runs in their respective flights.
Doubles play would see the Flight A pair of Andrew Deutsch and Tyler Howard win the consolation match against the pair of JaceMahan/Cole Weiss (Mary Hardin-Baylor) 8-5. Both Flight C (Canyon Ramsey/John Herr) and Flight D (Adam Morris/Juan Blanco) pairs finished fourth.
In singles play, Ty Tarver reached the furthest in flight E by reaching the finals before losing to Kwade Boyd (Hardin-Simmons) 2-6, 3-6 while John Herr took third place in his flight B matchup with Chase Daniell (McMurry) 6-1, 6-0. Ramsey (Flight G) and Reid Adams (Flight J) would each finish fourth in their respective flights.
ETBU will wait two weeks before heading back to Abilene for the ITA Tournament.
