ALPINE, Texas – In the final American Southwest Conference crossover match for East Texas Baptist University, the Tigers dropped a five-set match to Hardin-Simmons University, 3-2 (25-19, 25-19, 18-25, 11-25, 8-15). ETBU is now 9-8 overall and 3-3 in the ASC East Division.
ETBU was led by
Natalie Coburn and
Paige Miller's seven kills apiece.
Meredith Augsburger added 14 assists while
Elyse Shaw had 13 assists.
Julia De Los Santos then recorded 20 digs.
ETBU opened up the match with a 2-0 lead taking the first two sets. They hit .292 with 10 kills in set one and then hit .250 in set two with 11 kills winning both sets, 25-19. After the first two sets, HSU took the momentum winning set three, 25-18, as ETBU hit -0.73. From there it was all HSU sweeping through set four and five for the comeback win.
ETBU will travel to LeTourneau University on Tuesday, September 25
th, at 7:00 p.m. in Longview, Texas.
