PREVIEW: #14/15 @ETBU_WBSK Facing UTT, Ozarks This Week

MARSHALL, Texas – Looking to continue the momentum following last weekend's wins, the #14/15 East Texas Baptist University women's basketball team will take to the road facing the University of Texas Tyler and the University of the Ozarks. ETBU heads to Tyler, Texas, on Thursday and Clarksville, Ark., on Saturday.

Last weekend saw the Tigers collect two more wins over Louisiana College, 68-44, and Belhaven University, 79-54. Kendrick Clark was ETBU's top scorer in both games averaging 19 points per game giving her the ASC East Player of the Week honors. Kim Childress would also contribute in both wins scoring 24 points (12.0 ppg) while Amanda Wilson nabbed 11 rebounds in the BU game.

Sitting at 15-2 overall and 8-2 in the ASC East Division, ETBU averages 74.1 ppg while holding opponents to 52.2 ppg. Clark averages 15.4 ppg while Wilson (20 blocks) and Anna Moss are both tied with 74 rebounds and Sydney Saxton has a team-high 69 assists on the season.

The Tigers face UTT in Tyler on Thursday and is a non-conference game due to the Patriots' transition into NCAA DII. This season, UTT is 10-7 overall following a 75-72 loss to Ozarks on Monday night. Averaging 67.6 ppg, the Patriots have two players averaging double-figures in scoring with Carissa Spiker (14.7 ppg) and Bianca Valderrama (11.4 ppg). Spiker is also the team's leader in assist with 43 on the season.

Head coach Rusty Rainbolt recognizes the impact on the game and says this about Texas Tyler, "UT-Tyler is really talented and they're bigger than anybody we've played all year. They got a lot of big, strong physical girls that can compete with anyone on a given night. So it'll be a challenge."

ETBU's weekend matchup isn't any easier as they will take on Ozarks, who currently possess a 10-8 record and are 6-3 in the ASC East. The Eagles average 65.6 ppg as Hailey Ostrander (14.8 ppg) and Delanei Stephens (12.4 ppg, 127 rebounds) are the top scorers.

Thursday's contest against UTT starts at 5:30 PM while Saturday at UO will see a 1:00 PM start to the game.
