#TIGERSWIN: @ETBU_WBSK Surges to Victory Over Ozarks

MARSHALL, Texas – Holding the University of the Ozarks to just 14% shooting from beyond the arc, the East Texas Baptist University women's basketball team dominated the Eagles, 80-56, in Ornelas Gymnasium on Thursday night. The Tigers have now won six in a row and 11 of their last 12 as they are 18-2 overall and 10-2 in the American Southwest Conference East Division.

ETBU had three players scoring 10 or more points as Kim Childress (seven rebounds) and Amanda Wilson led with 12 points while Kendrick Clark added 11 points on the night. Other contributors include Erin Meeks (nine points) and Hanna Hudson (eight points) while Taylor Singleton finished the night as the team leader in steals with five. Diamond Goodwyn was UO's leading scorer with 13 points while Hannah Weatherford tallied 11 points.
 
Outshooting the Eagles 44.9%-40.4% from the field, ETBU also made 40% of their threes and won the rebounding battle 38-32. ETBU tallied 30 points in the paint, 20 fast break points, and 35 bench points.

ETBU's offense started off in cruise control with an 8-2 run (10:00-8:11) as Clark (9:34), Wilson (8:50), Childress (8:20) and Matlock (8:11) keyed the scoring. UO would manage to cut the score to 8-4 (7:54) only to give up nine straight points (7:07-4:40) to trail 17-4. ETBU's second set of five came off the bench to contribute the Tigers' nine points in the quarter with Hanna Hudson leading with five (3:10-2:19). The Eagles did outscore ETBU 11-9 in the final minutes to trail 28-15 after one.

Singleton (9:30) and Wilson (8:57) would answer a pair of UO points for a 32-19 lead into the second quarter. The Eagles did get the score down to single digits with five straight points (6:15-4:56) for a 32-24 deficit. Each team traded one basket before ETBU tallied seven unanswered points with Wilson (4:09), Erin Meeks (1:48) and Childress (0:04) providing the Tigers with a cushion of fifteen points (41-26) at the break.

After an Eagles score to start the third quarter (9:12), Childress would collect five straight points (8:54, 6:50). Hudson would counter a UO run of four points (4:51-4:09) with a three (3:49) while Clark stopped another Eagle surge of five unanswered (3:38-2:13) with a three of her own as ETBU led 52-37 (1:19). Free throws panned out in the final minute with the Tigers maintaining a 54-40 lead after three quarters.

ETBU's lead reached 20 points early in the fourth with a 7-1 run (10:00-7:03) to go up 61-41. This quarter saw ETBU get five points from Meeks (6:35, 6:06, 3:48) while Bianca Bowring came off the bench to notch five points of her own (2:52, 1:40). It was three-pointer by Paige Royal (3:32) that secured a twenty-plus point lead with a trey. ETBU finished up with the win, 80-56.
 
ETBU now turns their attention to Saturday's contest with the University of Texas Tyler. Tipoff starts at 1:00 PM.
