PREVIEW | @ETBU_Soccer Post Season Hopes on the Line This Weekend

MARSHALL, Texas – Coming off a tough road trip, the East Texas Baptist University men's soccer team remain in control for their destiny into the American Southwest Conference Tournament. This week, they host Sul Ross State University and Howard Payne University at Cornish Field as both teams will also be trying for an ASC Tournament spot.
 
Below is the information for both contests.

  • Defeated SRSU last season 3-2 in double overtime. Silas Sangano scored two goals including the overtime winner while Brett Rose added the third goal
  • Defeated Howard Payne last season 2-1 in overtime. Max Ponticorvo netted the golden goal
  • Isaiah Simien scored the lone goal last weekend for the Tigers against Ozarks
  • Averaging 1.5 goals per game and 0.71 assists per game
  • Simien leads with six goals and 36 shots with 20 on goal
  • Ponticorvo has four goals and is on top of the leaderboard with three assists
  • Cristian Hernandez has a GAA of 1.70 with 31 saves

  • 3-7-3 overall and 1-4-3 in the conference after a loss to Hardin-Simmons
  • Making their first trip to Marshall, Texas, in their program history
  • 0-1-3 in overtime games
  • Scoring 0.85 goals per game and collecting five assists in total
  • Luis Gonzalez and Lorenzo Segura have three goals each to lead the Lobos
  • Osvaldo Ogaz has two assists, which tops the Lobos
  • Frank Rodriguez has a GAA of 1.14 with 58 saves

HPU
  • 4-11 overall and 2-6 in the conference following a 2-1 win over McMurry
  • Scoring 0.80 goals per game and collects nine assists
  • Lost last five matches to ETBU
  • Alexander Paz has scored four goals to lead the Yellow Jackets
  • Angel Rivas has a team-high four assists
  • Andrew Hackney has a GAA of 3.34 with 56 saves
