MARSHALL, Texas – Playing in their third straight overtime contest, the East Texas Baptist University women's soccer team saw their unbeaten record in overtime come to an end as they fell 2-1 to Howard Payne University. The loss drops them to 7-9-1 overall and 4-6-0 in the conference.

ETBU's Raegan Kappler led with five shots with four of them on goal. Karrigan Falber would make five saves on the match while giving up one of the two goals. HPU's two goals came from Kara Moore and Mariah Gonzalez while goalkeeper Delaney Castor conceded one goal while making eight saves.

Early on, ETBU would have two scoring chances in the first ten minutes of the contest. But it was HPU would get the first shot on goal in the twelfth minute. ETBU would then put up three shots on goal only for the Yellow Jackets to score on a penalty kick in the 34^th minute. In all, ETBU would finish with a 10-3 lead in terms of first half shots, but the Yellow Jackets would keep the lead at 1-0 into halftime.

In the second half, HPU would outshoot the Tigers 9-6 in the overtime. But Falber would step up in the second half with four saves while ETBU's defense helped contribute with two saves of their own. ETBU would have chances to tie the game in the first 38 minutes of the second half. In the 84^th minute, an own goal by HPU tied the game at one. ETBU had a chance to win it in regulation, but the game would go into overtime.

The first overtime produced one shot by HPU, but no more and the contest went to a second overtime. ETBU did have a chance to win in the next session, but Castor made a brilliant. The play moved to the other side of the field where the Yellow Jackets secured the winner with 5:24 to go.

ETBU's final regular season contest will be next at 5:00 PM on Friday, November 1^st against LeTourneau University at Cornish Field.
