RECAP | @ETBU_WS Honors Three Seniors in Final Game of the Year

MARSHALL, Texas - Honoring three seniors in Karrigan Falser, Gabrielle Henley, and Shelby Kindhart in their final home match, the East Texas Baptist University women's soccer team came up short in the final seconds against LeTourneau University, 2-1. LETU scored the winning goal with 24 seconds left in the match. ETBU ends their season at 7-10-1 and 4-7-0 in the ASC just missing the post season tournament.

ETBU was held to just four shots all game long as Ashleigh Rondon had the lone goal while Raegan Kappler took two shots. Both Falber and Maddie Rea would each spend one-half in the net as they each gave up a goal while combining for five saves. Of the 16 shots taken by LETU, seven were on goal. Reagan Sandford would finish with two goals, including the game-winner while taking five shots in all.

Both sides started with one shot in the first seven minutes of the game. On LETU's fifth shot of the game, they would break through and score in the 30th minute for a 1-0 lead. ETBU's offense couldn't get any rhythm going as they were met by the Yellow Jackets' defense, who preserved the shutout into halftime.

ETBU would get an early chance to tie just eight minutes into the second half. But the shot went wide of the net. Fortunately, the next Tigers' shot would find the net as Rondon scored her eighth goal of the season in the 65th minute to level the match at one. This seemed to flip momentum to ETBU who would hold LETU to two shots over the next 20 minutes. The Tigers did have a golden chance to score only to have it saved by LETU's keeper. With 24 seconds to go in the second half, LETU would secure the win with a goal.

With the loss, ETBU just missed the ASC Tournament and ends the year with seven wins.
