#TIGERSWIN: @ETBU_Softball 's Shirley Wins 400th Game Sweeping Belhaven

MARSHALL, Texas – A no-hitter and a career milestone victory for head coach Janae Shirley all took place at Taylor Field on Monday afternoon as the East Texas Baptist University softball team completed the series sweep of Belhaven University, 8-0, in five innings. ETBU is now 11-0 and 6-0 in American Southwest Conference play. The win was Shirley's 400th at ETBU in her 12th year leading the program.

Hannah Garcia led ETBU with three hits while Daniella Solis (HR) and Mariah Delgado had two RBI each. Beatriz Lara would pitch a five-inning no-hitter striking out four batters while walking three. BU starter Bailey Root pitched all 4.1 innings allowing eight runs on 10 hits.

ETBU would start the scoring in the bottom of the first as an RBI single by Lara and an RBI groundout by Solis made it 2-0. Lara retired the first seven hitters she faced before walking two batters in the top of the third but the Blazers were unable to capitalize as Lara kept them off the scoresheet through three.

ETBU would add three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning as Solis homered while Arst and Garcia both had RBI hits. After another scoreless frame by Lara in the top of the fifth, ETBU would score three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning as a double by Emily Deramus would be followed by a two-run single from Delgado that would end the game.

ETBU will resume their home stand this weekend starting with a doubleheader on Friday night at 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM against Louisiana College.
