#TIGERSWIN: @ETBU_Baseball's Pitching Pulls Tigers to Victory

JACKSON, Miss. – Having to cling to a tight lead throughout much of the game, the East Texas Baptist University baseball would use a pair of insurance runs late to pick up a 6-3 victory over Millsaps College. ETBU is now 8-6 on the season and completes the sweep of the series with Millsaps.

Landen Barns, Zach Gartner, and Jack Hanstad would help ETBU's offense with two-hit games as Barns and Hanstad picked up a RBI. ETBU used five pitchers for all nine innings as starting pitcher Alan Underwood lasted four innings allowing three runs on six hits. Adrian Stover collected his first win going 3.1 innings of no-hit ball while striking out five batters. Call Florence picked up his first save of the season with a perfect ninth inning. On MC's side, William Warner was the only Major with two hits while he and Mason Little collected an RBI. Connor Hayes suffered the loss with one inning under his belt allowing three runs on two hits while striking out two batters.

ETBU would begin this game with a three run first inning on a three-run single by Barns, who advanced on an error. The Majors would counter with two of their own in the bottom half to trail by one. MC would then have the tying run at third before Underwood was able to get a groundout to first to end the frame. ETBU would extend the lead to 4-2 as Hanstad came through with a double scoring Drew Large in the top of the fourth inning.

But the Majors brought the deficit down to 4-3 on an RBI single of their own in the bottom of the fourth. They would come close to tying the game when a fielder's choice to Jake Miller was thrown to home for the out. Then ETBU had to deal with MC putting runners in scoring position in the sixth and seventh innings but base running mistakes would lead to a caught stealing in the sixth and a pickoff in the seventh as the Tigers maintained their lead. With two outs in the eighth inning, Miller would step up and reach base on an error that scored two runs to push the margin to 6-3. This would be all that was needed as the Tigers shut the door on the win.

ETBU will return home to Woods Field for three ASC games with the University of Texas Dallas beginning with a 7:00 PM contest on Friday night while Saturday's doubleheader is at 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
