MARSHALL, Texas – The East Texas Baptist University men's tennis team will look to get back in the win column this weekend as they wrap up their 10-match road trip in Kerrville, Texas. The Tigers will play three matches with two on Sunday against Occidental College and Schreiner University and face Connecticut College on Sunday.
ETBU fell to 3-3 on the season after a tough 6-3 loss to Hardin-Simmons University last weekend. The doubles team of
Andrew Deutsch and
Tyler Howard moved to 4-0 on the season as they picked up a win 8-6 in the number three singles. The Tigers managed to pick up two win in singles play. Deutsch (#4) and Howard (#5) would win their matches as Deustch would win a tiebreaker 3-6, 6-3, 10-4 while Howard won 6-2, 6-4.
John Herr and Ty Traver both played close matches, but fell in tiebreakers.
ETBU last played Schreiner in 2017 in Marshall and fell, 7-2. ETBU had wins in number two, and five singles.
Sunday's match vs. Occidental is set to start at 1:00 p.m. while the match vs. Schreiner starts at 6:00 p.m. Monday's match vs. Connecticut College is set to begin at 4:00 p.m.
