RICHARDSON, Texas – Finishing the 2019 season as American Southwest Conference Tournament Runners-Up, the East Texas Baptist University women's tennis team fell in the championship match to the University of Texas Dallas 5-2. ETBU finishes their season at 14-6.
This was the third time in four years that ETBU has played in the ASC Tournament championship match as they won it in 2017. The seniors on the team will be the best class to leave the program winning 53 matches in four years. They have been regionally ranked in three of the four years and nationally ranked in 2017.
ETBU was able to pick up one win in doubles play as the #3 doubles team of
Elisa Kendall and
Mullika Seekhieo won 8-5 over Svaksha Iyengar/Stephanie Joseph for the first point.
Olivia Parmelly and
Kaleigh Smith lost 8-2 at #1 doubles, while
Ashley Schenck and
Tiffany Stankiewicz fell 8-5 at #2 doubles in a close match.
The second point for the Tigers came in #4 singles as Smith was able to beat Sophie Farmer 6-2, 6-4. Kendall and Seekhieo's matches went unfinished when the match ended.
ETBU ends their season with 14 wins.
