Follow ETBU in Japan
Saturday's recap of the ETBU Cheer, Pom, and Acrobatics and Tumbling teams trip to Japan is provided by Juniors
Anna Gaddis and
Sarah Carlson.
"We started off Saturday in Japan by having a laid back morning after breakfast. We were able to spend some quality time together and talk about our goals for this trip. After lunch we rode the train to Yokohama, where we went to the local shopping mall and started playing games outside the main entrance. Our goal was to get as many Japanese people involved as possible, including children and adults. At first the Japanese people looked at us and smiled and many took videos, but after a while they began to join. It brought joy to my heart seeing the smiles on their faces and it was fun to see Christ working in many ways. Even though there was a language barrier, we were all brought together by the idea of having a good time. I am truly blessed to be a part of this experience," Gaddis said.
"After lunch today we took the van to the train station, where we headed off to Yokohama. Once we arrived, we walked to the Grand Mall Park amphitheater. While on this walk we saw some awesome sites along the way from the downtown area. After getting settled, we started playing games, dancing, and music, while people just watched and videoed or clapped along. Once we started playing limbo, many people started joining along with us and that is when I noticed that more people began to engage with us. As the games continued, so did the crowd involvement. It was crazy to think even though we are all different and unique, a simple game can bring two cultures together and give us the opportunity to share our faith," Carlson added.
