Day 7 Blog
Claire Rizzo - Sophomore
Sarah Murray - Sophomore

Wednesday, August 7, 2019
The Wednesday testimonies are from Claire Rizzo and Sarah Murray talking about helping at Camp Buttobi.

"Today we got up ready to go and immediately started prepping for breakfast for the children at camp.  The precision here on meals is so crazy and nothing like we're used to in the States. Following breakfast we all cleaned the dining hall  as well as all the dishes.

For the remainder of the day we spent time teaching acro and cheer skills to the children, and interacting with the toddlers. Tonight we had a little festival outside with great food, an amazing performance with the children and the cheer, pom & acro teas. We ended the day with an amazing, powerful worship by the campfire, and enjoyed fireworks.

Feeling the Holy Spirit move not just today, but since we've been here is life changing. The kids are changing our lives, while we're changing theirs. It's just beautiful and I can't wait to see what the rest of our trip holds," Sophomore Claire Rizzo said.

Sophomore Sarah Murray stated, "Wednesday stared early and ended late as all three teams stayed busy serving at Camp Buttobi. Our leaders heavily encouraged us to be present and willing to do whatever was needed and that is exactly what we did. As we all franticly rushed around prepping for meals, cleaning, doing dishes and just helping however we could, we found ourselves filled with so much joy knowing the impact that our work was making.  I'm so proud of every team member here for pushing past our exhaustion and stepping out of our comfort zones to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

Today, we also had the opportunity of hosting a clinic in which around 30 of the campers were taught dances, cheers, and stunts. Seeing the eagerness of the children to learn from us was extremely heartwarming and their joy was contagious. It was such a special moment to step back and watch these 30 children dance and cheer with our team. For a short time there was no language barrier and we were all the same and this was such a perfect picture of how I imagine God sees all of his children.

To end the night, we gathered outside for food and fellowship with the campers and performances from Pom and Cheer.  The camp leaders put on a fun and high energy worship service and seeing the people's eagerness to worship was so beautiful and definitely convicting. Even though we did not understand everything that was going on, we were still able to join in and praise the same God!"
