MARSHALL, Texas – Back on the road for their second long trip in four weeks, the East Texas Baptist University football team travels out west to Alpine, Texas, for their second American Southwest Conference game. ETBU will face Sul Ross State University at 6:00 p.m. vying for their first win of 2019.

For the 20th time, ETBU and Sul Ross State will meet as the Tigers hold a 15-4 advantage. SRSU, thought has taken two of the meetings since 2012. SRSU won in Marshall both times in 2016, 47-18, and 2012, 50-37. ETBU's longest winning streak came in two different spurts winning five in a row from 2007-2011 and 2001-2005. ETBU is 8-0 in Alpine in the series.

ETBU 60, SRSU 14
MARSHALL, Texas – Putting up 671 yards of offense in front of the Homecoming crowd at Ornelas Stadium, the East Texas Baptist University football team used a 41-point first-half en route to a 60-14 win over the Sul Ross State University Lobos. ETBU would also force five Lobo turnovers, including two on special teams. This win sends ETBU to 5-3 overall and a 5-2 in the American Southwest Conference.

ETBU put up 671 yards of total offense, which included 364 passing yards and 307 rushing yards. Brian Baca posted a 17-of-29 passing performance with 288 yards and three touchdown passes. Dominic Haggerty rushed for 96 yards and a touchdown run while Justin Ward (seven carries, 71 yards) had two rushing touchdowns. Jeremiah Robertson and Leo Brownfield IV would also find the end zone in the game. Jauque Kuykendall posted 78 yards on three receptions with a touchdown while Richard Johnson and Tarek Beaugard also caught touchdown receptions. Paul Rodriguez was SRSU's top passer with 13-of-20 for 133 yards and a touchdown pass. Williton Greer rushed 13 times for 81 yards including a score while Byron Jones caught nine passes for 77 yards and a touchdown reception.

On defense, Hardy Hill and Josiah Dykes led the defense with seven tackles and a forced fumble each. Dykes along with Anton Clark, Garrett Gibson, Josh Reed, and Drew Brewster would each have a tackle for loss while Zack Biles returned a fumble for a touchdown. Both Malik Mason and Ben Ashton had interceptions in the game. SRSU was led on defense by nine tackles from Isaiah Jacobs while Levah Terry had the only sack of the game.
 
Scouting Sul Ross State
The Lobos are 1-2 and 1-0 in the American Southwest Conference coming off their first win of the year, 21-7, over McMurry University. SRSU scored 14 points in the fourth quarter for the win and had five forced turnovers in the Battle of 1-20. Jorge Barrera passed for 115 yards and one touchdown while Williton Grear had 61 yards rushing. Clayton Maxwell and Trey Johns posted the rushing touchdowns.

SRSU is averaging seven points per game and 162 yards of total offense. Their defense is giving up 47 points per game. SRSU's two losses are to Hardin-Simmons, 64-0, and NCAA Division II Texas A&M-Kingsville, 72-0. Williton is the leading rusher with 90 yards while Logan Schnautz is the leading receiver with 75 yards. Isaiah Jacobs leads the team with 27 tackles.
 
Running Robertson
Senior Jeremiah Robertson earned his third 100-yard rushing game in his career vs. Texas Lutheran. He posted 150 yards rushing on 16 attempts. He posted a career-long 85-yard touchdown run for ETBU's first touchdown of the game. He has posted 100-yard games vs. Louisiana College (157 yards, 10/20/18) and 109 yards vs. McMurry (11/13/18).

 
Baca Watch
Baca moved up one spot in passing yards to third surpassing Dru Smith. Baca now has 5,330 yards passing and is 224 yards from moving into second place. He will surpass Phil Van Cleave who was a part of the 2003 ASC Championship and NCAA Tournament team. Baca also needs just seven attempts to move into fourth all-time also surpassing Smith.

Clark Time
Senior Anton Clark produced a career-high 14 tackles vs. Texas Lutheran on September 21 with six solo and eight assisted. He also recorded two sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss. His previous best was nine tackles vs. UMHB last year. The sacks were his first career sacks, too.
