PREVIEW | @ETBU_Volleyball Putting Undefeated Record on the Line in Mississippi

MARSHALL, Texas – Heading east to Mississippi for their second tournament of the year, the East Texas Baptist University volleyball team will face regional opponents at Millsaps College and Belhaven University on Friday and Saturday. ETBU will look to stay perfect after starting 5-0. ETBU started off this week with a 3-0 sweep of Centenary College on Tuesday night. Below is information on this weekend.

  • ETBU is off to their best start in the NCAA DIII era at 5-0 record.
  • ETBU won two five-set matches against Austin College (13-25, 23-25, 25-17, 26-24, 18-16) and the University of St. Thomas (TX) (25-19, 20-25, 25-23, 23-25, 17-15). The following day, ETBU took care of Centenary College in four sets (25-20, 25-16, 19-25, 25-18) and swept Paul Quinn College (25-17, 25-12, 25-19). On Tuesday night, the Tigers swept CC in a rematch (25-14, 25-14, 25-8)
  • Kennedy Peacock leads ETBU in kills with 44 (2.20/set) and service aces with eight (0.45/set). Cassidy Zellmer is second in service aces with eight (0.40/set), but leads the team with 81 assists while Julia De Los Santos leads with 113 digs (5.65/set). Nicole Sands leads the team with 14 blocks (0.88/set) while Lizeth Flores is second with 11 (0.69/set).
  • ETBU is averaging 11.90 kills per set, 10.60 assists per set, and 19.00 digs per set.
  • Julia De Los Santos posted a career-high 37 digs against Austin College.
  • Central Baptist College is 3-2 overall after posting a five-set win over Texas College.
  • University of Dallas is currently 0-4 after losses to Pomona-Pitzer College, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College, Kean University (N.J.), and Occidental College. Abigail Porras has a team-high 28 kills and six service aces. Larissa Ramirez has 84 assists while Krystyn Pua leads the Crusaders in digs with 65.
  • Millsaps is 0-4 after falling to Wisconsin-Oshkosh, Colorado College, Clarkson University, and Edgewood College. McKenzie Petricko has the Majors' lead with 27 kills. Katelyn Thomas is the top player in assists with 63 while Payton Passantino notches 45 digs.
  • Birmingham-Southern is 4-0 after wins against St. Catherine, Covenant, LaGrange, and Brevard. Rebecca Erwin and Milea Ray are tied with 32 kills apiece. Reilly Vought is the top assist leader with 63 while Caroline Johnson has 67 digs.
