MARSHALL, Texas – Opening the regular season with a thrilling victory on the road, the East Texas Baptist University men's soccer team return to Cornish Field to host Austin College on Friday, September 6
th. ETBU will have another Sunday match, too, when they travel to Georgetown, Texas, to take on Southwestern on September 8
th. ETBU is 1-0 heading into Friday's match.
The Tigers escaped with a thrilling come from behind victory, 4-3, in overtime against Schreiner University on Sunday. ETBU trailed 3-1 with just 20 minutes remaining, until
Jacob Lopez and
Travis Atkinson tied the ballgame at three with back-to-back goals.
Max Ponticorvo provided the spark for his squad, dishing out an assist and delivering the golden goal in the overtime to secure the win. Overall, the Tigers launched 16 shots in the contest, and added two saves in the win. The ETBU defense also limited SU to just six shots for the entire game.
