PREVIEW | @ETBU_WBSK Host ASC West Teams This Week

MARSHALL, Texas – Home in Ornelas Gym for the second week in a row, the East Texas Baptist University women's basketball team hosts American Southwest Conference West Division foes Howard Payne University and Sul Ross State University. ETBU has won three straight games and is 3-1 at home.

ETBU
  • 9-4 overall and 3-1 in the ASC East Division following a 62-41 win over the University of Ozarks
  • Defeated #25-ranked University of Texas Dallas 58-54, marking the first time since their Sweet Sixteen victory over St. Thomas University (Minn.) in 2018.
  • Taylor Singleton posted a career-high 16 points in the win over UTD. Kim Childress (15 points) and Kendrick Clark (11 points) scored in double-figures
  • 7th in the ASC in scoring with 68.1 points per game.
  • Lead the conference in scoring defense allowing 55.9 ppg to the opposition.
  • Lead the conference in field goal percentage (44.1%).
  • Third in the conference in rebounds per game with 42.5.
  • Clark is 11th in the ASC with 13.8 ppg, which is the leading scorer for ETBU. She also is the team leader in steals (22).
  • Childress leads ETBU with 6.1 rpg, which places her tied for 14th. She also leads in free throws made (2.4 per game) and assists (41; 3.2 per game)
  • Amanda Wilson has blocked a team-high 11 shots and also leads ETBU and the ASC in field goal percentage (60.2%).
  • Defeated HPU 45-43 in the ASC Conference Tournament first round.
  • Defeated SRSU 79-31 on Nov, 15, 2019. April Matthews led ETBU with nine points while Kaia Williams, Childress, and Tatyana Lacey had six rebounds each. The 31 points allowed is the fewest ETBU has conceded in a game this season.

SRSU
  • 4-10 overall and 2-3 in the conference following an 87-82 loss to McMurry University.
  • 3-1 against the ASC East with wins over Louisiana College (70-68, 63-59) and Belhaven (77-73).
  • Last defeated ETBU 76-62 on Dec. 8, 2016.
  • Chandre Nunez leads the Lobos in scoring and is fifth in the ASC with 16.4 ppg. This includes 12 double-digit games, four 20+ point games, including 25 at Schreiner University.
  • Kaylee Martinez leads SRSU in rebounding and is second in the ASC with 8.9 rpg.
  • Maria Maldonado is the Lobos' top assist maker with 2.9 per game.
