MARSHALL, Texas – In a close match coming down to the final point, the East Texas Baptist University women's tennis team fell, 5-4, to McMurry University. ETBU is now 1-1 on the year.
 
ETBU started out down 2-1 after doubles. Cassidy Wilcoxson and Maddi Davis earned the first point in an 8-4 win over Mandy Roberson and Morgan Parnell at #3 doubles. ETBU dropped #1 doubles, 8-2, and #2 doubles, 8-3.
 
Tying the match at three points each, ETBU won singles #1 and #2 for their second and third points. Elisa Kendall won #1, 6-2, 6-3, over Claire Hillyer and Ashley Schenck won #2, 6-3, 7-5, for the third point to tie it at three. Gabrielle Ellwanger was McM's third point at #3 singles in a 6-3, 6-4 win.
 
Kelsey Roberts gave ETBU a 4-3 advantage after a win at #4 singles, 6-4, 6-2, over Morgan Parnell. McM's Mandy Roberson won #5 singles, 6-1, 6-3, to tie the match at four. They then took the #6 match, 6-0, 6-2, taking the win away from ETBU.
 
ETBU will host Texas Lutheran University at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday morning.
