MARSHALL, Texas – Only taking on one American Southwest opponent, the East Texas Baptist University men's tennis team hosts Howard Payne University in a crossover match. ETBU is 2-3 on the year while Howard Payne is 2-4.
 
These two teams have met only four times since ETBU started their program in 2011-12. ETBU has won three of the matches as they last played on Feb. 15, 2019, claiming a 9-0 victory. Prior to that, ETBU won 9-0 in 2015 and 6-3 in 2014. They fell in the first contest, 5-4, in 2013.
 
ETBU has dropped their last two matches to UMHB, 7-2, and Texas Dallas, 8-1. They have wins over McMurry, 5-4, and Texas Lutheran, 9-0. John Herr had the one point vs. UTD in a 6-1, 6-8, 11-9 win at #2 singles.
 
HPU has won matches over Texas Lutheran and the University of the Southwestern on Feb. 8 and 15 for their two wins. They won, 5-4, over TLU, and then took a 4-3 match vs. USM. They fell to Hardin-Simmons University, 9-0, in their lone ASC West Division match. Gabe Benitez is 3-3 overall in singles to lead the team.
 
This is the final match at home before traveling to San Marcos, Texas, for three matches during spring break.
