#TIGERSWIN | @ETBU_WBSK Overpowers Ozarks to Mark Twelfth Straight Win

CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - Using their high-powered offense and strong defense, the East Texas Baptist University women's basketball team used the second a strong second half to pull out a convincing 77-52 win over the University of the Ozarks. Continuing their historic start, the Tigers are now 12-0 and 4-0 in the American Southwest Conference East Division.

All but one of the Tigers scored in the win in the total team effort led by Bridget Upton's 12 points. Mycah McDonald (seven assists, six rebounds), Taylor Singleton (seven rebounds), and Kaia Williams each had nine points. The Eagles had one double-digit scorer with 10 points in Stevie Perkins.

ETBU swept all three shooting categories with 42.6% from the field, 46.2% from downtown, and 76.9% from the free throw while UO ended shooting 35.6%, 35.0%, and 59.1% in each category respectively. Dominating the interior game, ETBU secured 45 rebounds and scored 32 points in the paint as 47 of their points came from the bench.

The Tigers and Eagles would trade points in the first quarter as neither side would build a two-possession lead until the final moments as ETBU led, 21-17. Nine Tigers would tally their points as Stelzer and Upton led with four points apiece. Their points helped ETBU lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Eagles would cut the lead in half to start the second quarter, but the Tigers took command with 14 straight points (6:31-1:58). Singleton would pour in seven points in the quarter (6:31, 4:29, 3:50) while a pair of three's by Upton (2:22) and Williams (1:58) extended ETBU's lead to 16 points, 35-19. UO would get three points back to end the quarter down, 35-22.

After both sides scored a bucket to open the second half, the Tigers went on a 10-0 run (8:57-5:46) with Upton scoring half the points (6:38-5:46) pushing ETBU's lead to 49-25. Haley Fieseler (7:37) and McDonald (7:08) also contributed to this run. The Eagles would cut the deficit to 19 points on two different occasions. Yet, their chances of a run would never be ignited as three's by Williams (0:49) and Erin Berry (1:16, 0:32) put the Tigers back up to 61-40 at the end of the third quarter.

One last time, the Eagles, would bring the margin to within 19 points to open the fourth quarter, but a Stelzer three (9:51) gave ETBU the 20-point lead they would never relinquish. McDonald would put up five points in this quarter (9:27, 6:18, 3:05) while Kenidi White added a three-pointer (6:00). The Tigers would then run out the clock taking home the 77-52 win.

ETBU will be back on the road next week against the Lobos of Sul Ross State in Alpine on Thursday night at 5:30 PM.
