MARSHALL, Texas – Finishing with their first back-to-back winning records in over 15 years, the East Texas Baptist University women's soccer season came to an end in the first round of the American Southwest Conference Tournament. ETBU gave up two goals to Concordia University Texas and did not find the goal as they finish at 9-5-3.
ETBU had plenty of chances in the game to score but couldn't get it in the net. They took 21 shots with eight on goal and held CTX to just nine shots with five on goal.
Olivia Gallegos led the team with six shots (three on goal) while
Amy Pineda had four shots (three on goal) and
Brianna Mickshaw took three shots (two on goal).
Claire Montondon recorded three saves.
It was just five seconds before half that CTX snuck in a goal for the 1-0 halftime lead. Both teams had battled closely in the first half as ETBU had 11 shots to CTX four shots. ETBU had shots on goal in the 19
th, 23
rd, 32
nd, and 33
rd minutes. CTX had shots stopped in the second and 28
th minutes before getting it by Montondon in the 45
th minute.
CTX made it 2-0 in the 56
th minute but ETBU kept pushing to try and comeback. They posted on-goal shots in the 56
th, 67
th, 85
th, and 87
th minutes. Once again, CTX stopped all the shots to end the game with the 2-0 win.
ETBU last had back-to-back winning seasons in 2005 and 2006 with winning seasons from 2001 through 2006.
