AUSTIN, Texas - Already winning the series over #21 Concordia University Texas, the East Texas Baptist University baseball team couldn't pick up the sweep as they dropped an 11-1 game in seven innings. ETBU is now 5-3 overall and 2-1 in the American Southwest Conference.
ETBU had four hits overall as
Jake Miller,
Carson Wilson,
Jase Jones (RBI), and
Zachary McAdams all recording them as the latter three picking up doubles.
Rece Gustafson received the start and took the loss in four innings allowing five runs on six hits and five strikeouts.
Adrian Stover (four runs, zero hits, three walks), and
Sayers Collins (two runs, two hits, three strikeouts) would each have an inning in relief.
Both teams would leave runners on base in the first inning. It was CTX who struck first in the second inning to lead 1-0. The Tornadoes would load the bases and brought in one run.
In the top of the third, ETBU would tie the game on a two-out RBI double by Jones. The Tornadoes would retake the lead with two runs in both the third and fourth innings. ETBU stranded runners in the fifth and sixth innings coming up empty. CTX would put the game away with six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and shut down the Tigers in the seventh inning to take their only game of the series.
ETBU will return home for their next ASC series with the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Friday night at 7:00 PM.
