Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

#TIGERSWIN | Pineda Pushes @ETBU_WS Past Piedmont in 2OT Thriller

MARSHALL, Texas – Delivering her second game-winner of her career, Amy Pineda recorded the golden goal in double overtime giving the East Texas Baptist University women's soccer team a 3-2 win over Piedmont College. Following the victory, ETBU improves to 2-0 on the early season.

The Tigers tallied 13 total shots with eight coming right at the net. The Lions added nine total shots with eight of their own coming on goal. ETBU also managed six saves, with Claire Montondon picking up the win on the night. PCL's Miranda McNally picked up five saves in the match.

Pineda led both teams with two goals scored, while Raegan Kappler added the team's third score. Both Kayla Nichols and Olivia Gallegos dished out an assist in the win. Kaylee King and Sarah Fisher each added goals in the contest.

It took only 10 minutes for the match's first goal to be scored. Piedmont's King would sink a shot from just outside the box to give the Lions the early 1-0 advantage. The Tigers would respond with Brianna Mickshaw finding Pineda for the goal, tying the match at 1-1 just three minutes later. ETBU would answer with yet another goal, this time by Kappler off the corner by Gallegos, with a little more help by Nichols at the 28:27 mark of the contest for the 2-1 advantage. The Tigers' 2-1 lead would be short-lived, as Fisher scored on a breakaway to knot the game at 2-2 four minutes before the half. The score would remain tied at 2-2 heading into the break.

Both teams mounted a stingy defensive effort in the second half, leaving the score all tied at 2-2 heading into the overtime session. It wasn't until the 107th minute that Pineda would record her second game-winning goal of her career, sinking a shot from 10 yards out to seal the clutch win, 3-2.

The Tigers will return to Cornish Field for a match against the Louisiana College Wildcats on Friday, February 12th. The American Southwest Conference showdown is set to kick-off at 7:00 p.m.
