MARSHALL, Texas - After falling in the first game of the series on Friday night, the East Texas Baptist University baseball rallied back to sweep the double header over Texas Lutheran University on Saturday. ETBU won game one, 2-0, and the took game two, 13-5, coming from behind. With the series win, ETBU is now 9-5.

The Tigers scratched out a 2-0 win in the seven-inning game one. With only three ETBU hits, Will Kelley recorded one of them notching the only RBI on the day while Charles Gordon contributed two hits. Isaiah Alvarenga pitched his second straight complete game of the season for the victory allowing just one hit while striking out six batters.

Despite falling behind 5-0 early in game two, ETBU would rally for 13 unanswered runs to win, 13-5. Colson Sledge led the way with four hits and three RBI while Will Kelley and Cameron Neel each had three hits and an RBI. Carson Wilson went yard twice while Jake Miller also added two RBI. Cole Godkin received the win allowing one run on five hits with five strikeouts in 6.1 innings of relief.

Game 1:  ETBU 2, TLU 0 (7 innings)
A pitcher's duel would take place in the game between ETBU's Alvarenga and TLU's Weatherly. Both sides would put zeroes on the board for three innings. Although the first three innings were scoreless, the Tigers did have runners on base by TLU errors.

TLU would get the first hit of the game in the fourth, but Alvarenga's strikeout and a fly out to Gordon ended the threat. ETBU would then break up Weatherly's no-hit bid in the bottom of the fifth with a leadoff double by Gordon, who then scored on a single by Kelley. One inning later, Kelley reached on an error that scored Jones from third to make it 2-0. Despite allowing two runners on base in the seventh, Alvarenga would finish his shutout at 2-0 to record his second straight complete game victory.

Game 2: ETBU 13, TLU 5
TLU would grab four runs to open the first inning and then add another run in the second to lead 5-0. ETBU would scratch across three runs in the bottom of the third with a RBI single from Sledge and a two-run double by Miller. Sledge then followed with a two-run double in the fourth to tie the score at five.

Wilson would connect for a solo blast to lead off the fifth inning to give ETBU a 6-5 lead. TLU threatened with two runners in scoring position and one out in the sixth. But Godkin retired the next two hitters to keep the lead. ETBU added two insurance runs on back-to-back seventh inning RBI doubles by Kelley and Cameron Neel. The Tigers then pulled away from the Bulldogs with five runs in the eighth inning as Wilson homered again while Zachary McAdams had a RBI double. After Kelley reached base on an error that scored two runs, Fox Locke drove in a RBI with a single to make it 13-5.

ETBU hits the road next week for a three-game conference series against Hardin-Simmons in Abilene. Friday night will begin at 7:00 PM while Saturday's doubleheader starts at 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
