BELTON, Texas - Scoring 27 runs in a double header sweep in a NCAA Division III Top 25 showdown, the #1 East Texas Baptist University softball team took care of the #13 University Mary Hardin-Baylor Crusaders, 18-7, and 9-0. ETBU will seek out a series sweep on Saturday and are currently 7-0 and 5-0 in the American Southwest Conference.

ETBU would take the first game, 18-7, in six innings.
Hannah Garcia (three RBI, HR),
Daniella Solis (two RBI), and Murin Musicant (two RBI, HR) would each have three hits and combined for seven RBI.
Sydnee Shea also homered and drove in two RBI while Allison Carrion,
Mariah Delgado,
Regina Garza, and
Tristen Maddox each drove in a RBI.
Preslye Cox went 3.1 innings recording one strikeout.
Hannah Kelley would get the win in two-thirds of an inning allowing one run on two hits.
Savannah Buhl pitched the final two innings allowing one hit with two strikeouts.

Game 2 went only five innings as the Tigers swept the doubleheader, 9-0. Musicant picked up five RBI on two hits and another home run while Garcia added two more RBI on two hits.
Ashley Croft struck out three batters and allowed one hit in the five inning shutout win.

Game 1: ETBU 18, UMHB 7 (6 Innings)
 The Tigers struck first for three runs in the top of the first as Solis recorded a RBI single. Following a wild pitch to score Garcia, Carrion drove in Solis on an RBI groundout for the 3-0 lead. ETBU added two runs in the second inning with a RBI single from Delgado and a RBI groundout from Garcia.

The third inning brought three more runs as Maddox picked up a single while Musicant homered to extend the lead to 8-0. Held to one hit through three, the Crusaders would strike for six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. But the Tigers would answer with six runs in the top of the fifth inning with Garcia clearing the bases with a three-run double. Solis followed with an RBI double RBI while Shea homered to make it 14-6. The Crusaders would get one in the bottom of the fifth to trail, 14-7.Â

ETBU then picked up four runs in the sixth as Garza reached on an error to score two runs. Garcia would then drive in two runs with a two-run home run, which made it 18-7. ETBU held the Crusaders down in the sixth inning to take the first game.

Game 2: ETBU 9, UMHB 0 (5 Innings)
 After two scoreless innings, the Tigers would break out for seven runs in the third inning. ETBU loaded the bases before Garcia cleared them with a double. Solis would follow with a RBI single while Musicant recorded her second homer of the day driving in three runs.

In the fourth inning, Musicant would add two more runs to the board to make it 9-0. UMHB had runners at second base in the third and fourth innings but couldn't bring them around. They would broke up the no-hitter in the fifth inning and threatened to score with one out but a groundout and a line out ended the threat as Croft preserved the shutout.
