MARSHALL, Texas - Back on their friendly home courts, the East Texas Baptist University women's tennis teams blanked Belhaven University, 9-0, on Saturday afternoon. ETBU is now 7-4 overall and 2-1 in the American Southwest Conference East Division.
ETBU led off the match by winning No. 1 (
Elisa Kendall/
Maddi Davis) and No. 2 (
Ashley Schenck/
Corrine Hall) doubles matches by 8-0 scores. They earned a third win in doubles by forfeit. Four of the five singles matches would be done in straight sets with Kendall (No. 1; 6-0, 6-0) and Hall (No. 4; 6-0, 6-0) giving up no points.
Kelsey Roberts (No. 3; 6-2, 6-0) and Syvoney Ibarra (No. 5; 6-0, 6-1) conceded games in their sweep while Schenck went to a third set to win (6-2, 3-6, 10-7). One singles match was won by forfeit to make it 9-0.
ETBU will welcome LeTourneau University next Friday at home at 3:00 PM for their senior day.Â
