CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - Scoring nine runs in the first three innings, the #4 East Texas Baptist University softball team cruised to a five-inning victory over the University of Ozarks to complete the American Southwest Conference sweep. ETBU is now 22-3 overall and 18-3 in the ASC.
Hannah Garcia recorded three of ETBU's 13 hits while
Tristen Maddox and
Tauryn Cummings each had two hits and two RBI in the contest.
Daniella Solis also provided two RBI.
Preslye Cox earned her second win of the series allowing just two hits and striking out three in the complete game shutout.
ETBU opened the game with a four-run first inning as Maddox had a RBI triple which she then scored on a double from Cummings. Solis would drive in two runs on a double to put ETBU up 4-0 after one. In the second inning, ETBU scored three runs as Garcia drove in Skyler Wilabay on a single. Garcia then came home on a double from Cummings, who then scored on a double from Murin Musicant.
The third inning brought two more runs as Delgado had a RBI single to score
Kamyree Keilberg while Maddox drove in Delgado with a single. Cox took a no-hitter into the fourth where she would concede a hit and a walk to start the frame. But she would record the next three outs to keep UO off the board. Ozarks added their second hit in the fifth but Cox kept the shutout win intact.
The Tigers will be back home for their series against Belhaven University this Friday with a doubleheader starting at 5:00 PM.
