LONGVIEW, Texas - Unable to put together any offense in the opening game of the series, the East Texas Baptist University fell, 5-1, to LeTourneau University. The Tigers are now 24-14 overall and 17-8 in the American Southwest Conference.
Christopher Shay would have two hits to lead the Tigers.
Jake Miller recorded the only RBI on a solo home run.
Cole Godkin took the loss allowing three runs in 3.2 innings striking out five batters. Sayers Collings finished the final 4.1 innings and had seven strikeouts.
After two scoreless innings, LETU struck first with two runs in the third inning. They would add a third run in the fourth inning to go up, 3-0. ETBU would manage just two hits through five innings before Miller connected for a solo home run in the sixth. ETBU then had the tying run come up to the plate in the seventh and eighth innings only to come up empty. LETU drove in two more runs in the to seal the win, 5-1.
ETBU will look to bounce back with a double header on Saturday beginning at 1:00 PM.
