Box Score MARSHALL, Texas - Behind a hat-trick performance from
Aaliyah Casas and great defense, the East Texas Baptist University women's soccer team blanked the Millsaps College Majors, 4-0, at Cornish Field on Friday night. The Tigers are 3-0 for the second straight season following the win.
Outshooting MC, 22-8, 12 of ETBU's shots were on goal. Casas scored three goals while leading ETBU with seven shots.
Isabella Dollagaray also scored in the game.
Raegan Kappler put up six shots on goal while
Brianna Mickshaw,
Kayla Nichols,
Sarah Ramos, and
Katelynn Smith each tallied an assist. Goalkeepers
Claire Montondon and
Addison Funk each played 45 minutes to combine for the shutout with Funk recording four saves.
A little over two minutes into the game, Casas scored the first goal when the ball went between the keeper's legs. She then found the back of the net at 26:51 making it, 2-0, Â for her second goal of the night. Â Less than a minute later, Dollagaray brought the score to 3-0 scoring off a rebound shot. The Tigers finished the first half with 15 shots while holding MC without a shot.
In the second half, MC had two early chances to get on the board but a Funk save and the goalpost prevented the scores. Casas then collected her hat trick in the 62nd minute putting the game away, 4-0. While the Majors did end up with eight shots in the second half, they were unable to get anything past Funk, especially in the 87th minute, which was their last chance to score. Time ran out and the Tigers emerged with their second shutout win of the season.
ETBU will travel to San Antonio on Sunday to take on #21 Trinity University at 2:00 p.m.
