#TIGERSWIN | ETBU Evens ASC Record Sweeping CTX

AUSTIN, Texas - Coming up with timely kills, the East Texas Baptist University volleyball team swept Concordia University Texas in three sets (25-20, 25-17, 25-18) picking up their second win in three matches. ETBU now is 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the American Southwest Conference.

Avery Reid produced a team-high nine kills while Kayla Rainey had eight kills and Bailey O'Bannon collected seven. Jenna Helms tallied 15 assists while Maddison Harris came away with 10 assists. Lillie Hill finished leading with 14 digs.

Led by Brooke O'Neal and Rainey, who combined for five kills to start the game, the Tigers put up an early 5-3 lead on the Tornadoes. CTX drew level at seven before Rainey recorded a kill and a service ace to spark an ETBU run of four straight points. Although CTX would cut the margin to, 11-9, the Tigers ran off with a 9-4 run to lead 20-13 as CTX had nine attack errors in the set. Despite a late rally by CTX, who came within three points (23-20), Reid delivered the final point to claim a set one win, 25-20.

ETBU would only trail once during the second set. With the score tied at four apiece, a kill by Megan O'Neal started a 5-2 run that put the Tigers up, 9-6. CTX responded with a 6-2 run to go ahead, 12-11. After a quick exchange of tying the score at 15, ETBU took the lead for good on an O'Bannon kill. This would be followed by a 9-2 run for a 25-17 final. O'Bannon and Reid combined for eight of ETBU's 13 kills in the second set.

Despite falling behind 3-1 at the start of set three, ETBU flipped the script for a 10-2 run with Rainey and Reed combining for four kills to go up, 11-5. CTX cut the score close to two, 11-9, only for the Tigers to pick up 12 of the next 16 points including a pair of service aces from Helms. Up 23-13, the Tigers would give up five unanswered points before CTX committed two errors as ETBU took the match win.

ETBU will head to Longview, Texas, to battle rival LeTourneau University at 6:00 PM on Tuesday night.
