IRVING, Texas - Facing off with the University of Dallas, a hard-fought effort by the East Texas Baptist University men's soccer team was undone by two second half goals from the Crusaders in a 2-0 loss. ETBU enters next week 0-1-1 overall.
ETBU put up 14 shots with six coming on goal.
Juan Cairo and
Justus Crow each had a team high three shots with the former recording two on goal.
Matthew Dieb,
Travis Floyd, and
Levi Rogers recorded two shots apiece. In goal, Gunner recorded two saves while facing 18 shots with four on goal.
Each team combined for six shots in the first 14 minutes of the game and eight in the first half despite a 0-0 tie at halftime. In the 59th minute of the second half, Barry picked up his first save on a shot to the bottom center part of the goal. ETBU had two scoring chances in the 51st and 60th minutes, which were saved. The scoreless battle was finally broken by UD in the 76th minute. UD's defense would hold ETBU to just one shot for the rest of the game while they would add a second goal with two minutes left in the game.
The Tigers will return home to Cornish Field on Monday as they will meet with Austin College at 7:00 PM.
