MARSHALL, Texas – On a crisp night at Cornish Field, the East Texas Baptist University Tigers drew a tie with the Howard Payne University Yellowjackets, 1-1. ETBU is now 7-7-2 overall and 2-5-1 in American Southwest Conference play.

It was an exciting game throughout, with both teams netting once in the second half. The Tigers set the tone for the match in the first half, with 10 shots to the Yellowjackets' three. The second half was more level, with ETBU having 13 shots and the Yellowjackets shooting 11.

The scoring opened midway through the second half in the 62nd minute, when Royce McConnell took on an ambitious volley from a tight angle to send the ball screaming into the back of the net. The Tigers would maintain this lead until the 88th minute, when the Yellowjackets' Julio Colmenares scored from a corner. The match would then end in a 1-1 tie.

Anthony Lozada had a good night between the sticks recording four saves.

ETBU will host the Sul Ross State University Lobos this Saturday at 4:30 pm in the final game of the season.
