ABILENE, Texas – Playing under the lights at Wilford Moore Stadium, the East Texas Baptist University men's soccer team ended their West Texas road trip falling McMurry University, 3-1. The Tigers are now 5-6-1 overall and 0-4 in the American Southwest Conference.
The Warhawks had more opportunities in the first, but both teams capitalized once. The scoring opened in the 10th minute with a shot from near the penalty spot from McMurry's Brennan Anderson. The Tigers were quick to equalize in the 24
th minute as
Garrett Garvin laced one from the top of the box into the lower left-hand corner. The match would then go to the break tied at one.
The second half was action packed. The Tigers were suddenly the ones creating the chances, outshooting the Warhawks, 10-6. Both goals, though for the half, came from McMurry on a pair of outside the box shots, including one in the final minute to seal the deal, 3-1.
Anthony Lozada saved three shots of the six on goal for ETBU. Of ETBU's five shots on goal, Garvin had four as
Aram Mijares had the other.
ETBU will return home to host the LeTourneau University Yellowjackets next Saturday, October 15th, at 7:30 pm.
