SEGUIN, Texas – Making the long drive to central Texas, East Texas Baptist University swept Texas Lutheran University, 9-0, to start the 2022 spring season. The win is the first for new head coach Drew Lambert as ETBU is now 1-0 on the year.
ETBU started with the doubles wins of Christian Dubec and Brycen Fears at No. 1, 8-3. Randal Lemmon and Slade Austin then won No. 2, 8-1, before Parker Stewart and Tim Cooley took No. 3, in a close match, 8-5.
 
Austin shut out his opponent at No. 1, 6-0, 6-0, to make it 4-0. Lemmon the won the No. 2 match, 6-1, 6-3, and Cooley took No. 5, 6-3, 6-4. Dubec had a close match at No. 3, 6-1, 7-6, 9-8, winning in a tiebreaker, as Silva (No. 4; 6-3,6-4), Cooley (No. 5; 6-2, 6-4), and Fears (No. 6; 7-6, 6-1) all won easily.
 
ETBU will travel to San Antonio, Texas, to face Trinity University.
