SEGUIN, Texas – The East Texas Baptist University women's tennis team gave head coach
Drew Lambert his first win of the year in the first match, 8-1, over Texas Lutheran University. ETBU is now 1-0 on the year.
Gabbi Hammerbach and
Jayde Childress teamed up for the No. 1 win, 8-2, as
Faith Kirk and
Andrea Alvarez took the No. 2 match, 8-5, for the 2-1 lead.
Keelie Stamson and
Isabelle Duarte fell at No. 3, 8-3.
ETBU then swept through singles play winning all the matches. Hammerbach won the No. 1 match, 6-1, 6-3, followed by Childress in a tiebreak at No. 2, 6-2, 5-7, 6-0. Alvarez held off TLU at No. 3, 6-4, 6-4, and Duarte won No. 4, 6-3, 6-1. Kirk help finish off the scoring winning No. 5, 6-3, 6-1, while Stamson worked hard for the eighth point at No. 6, 7-5, 6-3.
ETBU faces Trinity University on Saturday morning in their second match of the year.
