MARSHALL, Texas – Opening up at home after two straight road matches on Friday and Saturday in Central Texas, East Texas Baptist University was shy of victory dropping a 5-4 decision to McMurry University. ETBU is now 1-2 on the year.
The match came down to doubles play as McMurry started the match up 2-1. They won the #1 match, 8-3, and then the #3 match in a tiebreaker, 8-7. ETBU won the #2 match, 8-4, as
Slade Austin and
Randal Lemmon took the win.
There were three wins in singles play for ETBU starting at #3 as
Christian Dubec took Connor Hogan, 7-5, 7-5.
Tim Cooley followed at #4 with a 7-6, 6-3 tiebreaking win for ETBU's third point. Bryce Fears then won the #6 match, 6-3, 6-2, over Ty Edwards.
ETBU will take on Mary Hardin-Baylor on Friday in Belton, Texas.
