MARSHALL, Texas – Scoring 18 runs in an American Southwest Conference sweep, #7 East Texas Baptist University took care of McMurry University on Friday night, 8-0, and 10-3. ETBU is now 17-5 and 11-3 in the ASC.
Hannah Kelley and
Ashley Croft earned the wins while ETBU combined for 26 hits.
Tristen Maddox led the team with four hits, three RBI, and a home run.
Courtney White also added four hits and four RBI with a home run.

Game 1
ETBU 8, McM 0
In a five-inning run rule game, ETBU had 11 hits scoring eight runs. Kelley pitched a one-hit shutout with four strikeouts walking just one batter and retiring the side in the first fourth innings. White was 3-of-3 at the plate with two RBI and a home run. Maddox had two hits with two RBI and a home run.
Mary Frances Ellis and Amber Thibodeau added two hits each.
Delanie Loya, Ellis, and Thibodeau all had one RBI, too.
Loya brought in the first run with a double down the left field line in the first inning as Maddox scored for the 1-0 lead. Two more runs were scored in the second inning with a two-run home run by Maddox. White made it 5-0 with a two-run home run in the fourth inning and then ETBU scored three runs in the fifth for the 8-0 lead. Ellis recorded her RBI with a single for the 6-0 lead and then
Lorena Ramirez scored on a stolen base. Thibodeau finished out the scoring with a single as Ellis scored to take the shortened, five-inning game.
Game 2
ETBU 10, McM 3
Croft earned her fifth win of the year recording three strikeouts with only one walk. ETBU had 15 hits as six players all had two hits in Maddox,
Tristyn Barton, Loya,
Marin Musicant, Ramirez, and
Sarah Bledsoe. White, Bledsoe, and Allison Carrion all had two RBI while Maddox, Ramirez, and Thibodeau posted one RBI.
McMurry took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first only to see ETBU score four runs in the bottom of the second inning. Thibodeau flew out as Ramirez scored the tying run. Maddox followed with a RBI single to take the lead, 2-1, and then White had a two-RBI single scoring Ellis and Maddox for the three-run lead, 4-1. Loya came in on a wild pitch in the third inning (5-1) and then ETBU scored three runs in the fifth for the 8-1 lead. Ramirez earned her second RBI of the game on a single and then Carrion had a two-run RBI single for the seven-run advantage.
Two runs were scored by McMurry in the sixth inning and then ETBU finished out the scoring with a two-RBI single from Bledsoe making it, 10-3.
ETBU will finish off the series with game three on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
